Liked it, it stirred up my feelings. Especially this Red- thing, loved the plot twist. It helped me to make on more step towards being a full-grown human. Speaks perfectly to young people. Sometimes a little too dramatic though.

Red, Leo, Rose und Naomi haben wenig gemeinsam, außer ihr Alter (16), die Schule, die sie besuchen und die Tatsache, dass sie Außenseiter sind.Doch dann werden sie zu der Schulband ‚Mirror, Mirror‘ zusammengecasted, finden Trost und der Musik und werden Freunde.Als Naomi plötzlich verschwindet und erst nach Wochen in ein Koma geprügelt wiedergefunden wird, wird die Welt der verbleibenden drei Teenies auf den Kopf gestellt.Wer hat ihrer Freundin das angetan und wird sie sich von der brutalen Attacke erholen können?Für einen London-Trip habe ich nach einer englischen Lektüre gesucht, die nicht zu schwer ist, mich aber auch nicht gleich in die nächste Leseflaute katapultiert.Und obwohl ich Prominenten, die Bücher veröffentlichen, meist extrem skeptisch gegenüberstehe, ist meine Wahl auf das Debüt von Cara Delevingne gefallen.Zum einen, weil es schon länger auf meiner Wunschliste stand und zum anderen, weil ich gerade Lust auf ein Buch mit Teenies hatte und der Klappentext auch ein wenig Spannung versprach.Die Geschichte ist aus der Sicht von Red geschrieben und ich habe festgestellt, dass mir im Englischen ein Ich-Erzähler weniger ausmacht als im Deutschen – warum auch immer.Red war mir eigentlich von Anfang an sympathisch. Sie ist von allen vier Personen vielleicht die reflektierteste und von daher als Erzähler prädestiniert.Alle vier Teens haben jede Menge Probleme mit sich, mit ihren Familien und ganz allgemein mit dem Erwachsen werden.Dabei hatte ich manchmal ein wenig das Gefühl, dass auf Teufel komm raus versucht wurde, sämtlich wie auch immer gearteten aktuellen Ströhmungen einzubauen, zum Beispiel Waffengewalt, Alkoholismus, Sexualität, (sexuelle) gewalt, Drogenmissbrauch, etc.. Das wirkte hier und da etwas gewollt auf mich.Außerdem wird dadurch wird die Haupthandlung stellenweise unterbrochen und der Spannungsbogen verliert an Zugkraft.So sind dann viele Geheimnisse und Enthüllungen keine wirkliche Überraschung mehr für den erwachsenen Leser und gerade Naomis Schicksal war doch sehr vorhersehbar.Trotzdem hat mir das Lesen viel Spaß gemacht, weil dieses merkwürdige Gefühl des nicht am richtigen Platz seins, das man als Teenie sicher auch mal erlebt hat, gut beschrieben ist.Und weil ich die Hauptfiguren mochte und mit ihnen mitgefühlt habe.Und weil die Sprache recht authentisch wirkte und selbst das Einbauen von Social Media in diesem Fall gut funktioniert hat.Und weil Musik eine große Rolle spielt und sie so wunderbar als Lebensinhalt und Rettung inszeniert wird.Und auch der manchmal etwas düstere Ton des Romans ist für mich passend gewählt.London als Schauplatz kommt eher weniger zum Tragen, was aber auch nicht weiter schlimm war. Ich hatte nur im Vorfeld einfach ein wenig mehr vom typischen Londoner Flair erwartet.Insgesamt würde ich sagen, dass ‚Mirror, Mirror‘ ein überraschend gelungenes Debüt mit kleinen Schwächen ist und ich bin gespannt, ob Delevingne ihre Karriere als Schriftstellerin fortsetzten wird.
